Beginning A New Life

Over 2 years ago God brought my family and I to Birmingham, Al through my job at the time. Many people told us if we wanted to hear true biblical teaching, go to Brook Hills. We did just that.
We met JT and Sheryl Turner from 1 Way Ministries on a mission trip to Sells, Arizona and that was truly a life changing experience. The week we arrived home from the trip we signed on a new home. We knew we made a mistake, literally days after we arrived home, as my wife was looking at pictures from our trip on her camera. Scrolling through those pictures we saw our new home and in the very next frame was a shack in a small village in Arizona.
2 months later I lost my job of many years. As I struggled to find work I had a strange calm, a peace I had never experienced before. I had hours each day to spend in prayer and the Word. Some days I would spend 4-5 hours in the Word. I experienced growth like never before.
One Wednesday night, JT and I were in the lobby at TCABH and he said to me "I've been praying about your situation and you should go with me to Guatemala next week." Of course I laughed and thought to myself, that is insane! But we prayed about it and He said I had nothing to keep me from going. I had no passport. That is a huge hurdle. Long story short I got my passport in 4 days. That's right 4 DAYS. Only our God can do that. My airfare was less than his and Nov '08 I left the USA for the first time in my life.
After being there for a couple of days, I was spending time alone in prayer and as I silently waited for a response from the Holy Spirit, He said "this is your home". I said, "come again?", "This is your home". I did not know what that meant at the time, but after numerous trips back with my family, we knew we were moving to Guatemala City!
God has directed us to Tabitha House, which is a ministry that ministers to and helps women and children in the city dump. 10,000 people live in and around the dump in extreme poverty. Guatemala has the 4th highest level of child malnutrition in the world. 7 out of 10 children are malnourished. We, as a family, know that God wants us to go and take the Gospel, the bread of life, to those who are hungry. We want to bring teams from the states to minister those in the devastating poverty and hopelessness that is there and in doing so, change how they see things in the US and to bring about real change for the Glory of our God.
So, me, my wife, and my 2 girls are planning to move in the summer of 2010 to be there for good. We are in the process of selling everything we have and risking it all for the Glory of God. Please join us in prayer as we need guidance and clarity, but also for support for the ministry we will be doing there. There are still hurdles - like finding housing and transportation.
I cannot express my humble gratitude for what God is doing through the Church at Brook Hills and I thank you, as our Church, the Body of Christ, for your prayers and support. Dios te bendiga! (God Bless you!)

Wow this testimony of God's unfailing love and faithfulness has been such an encouragement to me. Thank you for sharing. Praying for you and your family as you work to make God's Name known among those who are impoverished. Blessings.

This is a real story of true Love. God says for us look over the poor, ophans, and widows.I Am moved of how much we could all do if we just obey the Lord. It says in the bible its is better to give than to receive. I truly believe the Lord will bless you and your family. For the tremendous faith and love you all have. My blessings to you all.
